Winter 2025 Stated Meeting

The Winter 2025 Stated Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 10:00 am at the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery office, 4701 Park Place West, North Charleston, SC 29405.

Please click here to register and pay for your lunch. Please complete registration by Tuesday, December 3, to reserve your lunch at the pre-registration price of $15 and to help give those preparing the meal an accurate head count.  Lunch tickets purchased at the presbytery meeting will be $20.  Please call the Presbytery Office if you have any questions.

The Commissioners’ handbook is coming soon. When available, please print or download the handbook onto a tablet, phone or computer. There will be an agenda item only slide presentation during the meeting.

The Joys video will be played in the Sanctuary toward the end of the meeting. Joys Video pictures are due to Julie McCormick no later than Friday, November 29 (no exceptions). Please email her at jmccormick@capresbytery.org

The Fall 2024 Stated Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 9:30 am (Please note new time) at the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery office, 4701 Park Place West, North Charleston, SC 29405.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. Lunch tickets purchased at the presbytery meeting will be $20.  Please call the Presbytery Office if you have any questions.

Proposed Amendments to the Constitution of the PCUSA

Proposed Amendments to the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

The Stated Clerk of the General Assembly has sent to the presbyteries a group of proposed amendments which were approved by the commissioners to the 226th General Assembly and are now to be reviewed by the presbyteries.  If a majority of the presbyteries in the denomination approve these amendments, they will become a part of the Book of Order in July 2025. There is a summary of the amendments that CAP’s commissioners to the General Assembly and I have prepared.  The link to the amendments contains the actual text of the proposed amendments as well as commentary from various groups whose input the commissioners to the General Assembly considered.  I invite all who are interested to review the summary, the texts, and the commentaries.  Click here to view.

Commissioners and minister members of the presbytery will be voting on these amendments at our meeting on December 10, 2024 at the presbytery office.

CAP Work Day

When: Saturday, September 28th from 7:00 am – 9:00 am

Where: Charleston Atlantic Presbytery Office – 4701 Park Place W, North Charleston

  • Bring your own equipment, lawn bags, cleaning supplies, etc. 
  • We will be doing yard work (trimming bushes, working flower beds, etc.) & inside (kitchen, windows, floorboards, bathrooms, etc.). 
  • This is for all ages including youth.  (Youth must be accompanied by adults.)

A Few STEPS Reminders!

  • If you did not pre-register, you can register on Saturday. There is no option for childcare or lunch. The registration fee is $35 payable by check (CAP) or cash.
  • Bring your water bottle. There will be water stations set up to refill them as needed.
  • Evaluation forms will be emailed to participants and are helpful in planning the next event.
  • This is a wonderful opportunity to see “old” friends and make new friends!

WHAT: 2025 Board of Pensions Benefits Package

WHEN & WHERE:

Monday, June 3rd – 2:00 pm – Lowcountry Presbyterian Church, Bluffton

Tuesday, June 4th – 2:00 pm – CAP office

WHY: 2025 Changes in benefits affect YOU

Elizabeth Little, Church Consultant for the Board of Pensions will be in Bluffton on Monday afternoon, June 3 rd and Tuesday, June 4 th to interpret with you the changes in the benefits package beginning January 1, 2025. Everyone currently enrolled in the plan will be affected by the changes. There are also offerings available to people who are NOT currently enrolled, such as Commissioned Pastors and Pastors serving smaller churches.

These offerings are important to everyone involved and we encourage your attendance. We also encourage church financial administrators and/or representatives from your personnel committees to attend.

As of 2025, the benefits package will be more complex than adding 39% to the effective salary, and the financial administrators will need to be knowledgeable of the options available. The gatherings provided are a good opportunity to think of your personal situation and determine the best options for you and your family.

Please make every effort to attend.

Summer 2024 Stated Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended the Summer 2024 Stated Presbytery meeting at St. James Presbyterian Church. Moderator Rev. Cibele Santos led our meeting. Rev. Brian Henderson and our PC(USA) General Assembly Co-Moderators, Rev. Cece Armstrong and Rev. Tony Larson led us in worship. It was a beautiful day. We thank St. James Presbyterian Church for hosting us and for the delicious lunch made with love and great fellowship.

RESOLUTION OF THANKS

We give thanks, O God….

For the “sweet water” hospitality of the congregation of New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church, and the peoples who have gone before us on this land.

For the 110 years of ministry of the South Carolina Home in Montreat, North Carolina, providing guests with times of rest, healing, and recreation.

For worship, granted by the Holy Spirit, focusing on abundance, humility, and hospitality, filled with stories that have been told around the world, filling us physically, and spiritually, and reminding us that Jesus is with us.

For delegates who have answered the call to serve as commissioners to the 226th general assembly of the PCUSA.

For the Mackay Presbyterian Mission, and the ways that the good news of Jesus Christ is shared through basketball games, fair wages, and a roof sheltering a school.

For the ways that the Holy Spirit is at work in the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery, calling people to the ministry of Word and Sacrament, and leading Caroline Grindrod to ordained ministry at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.

For visions of new ministry that are welcoming, inclusive, and creative in the Park Circle neighborhood.

For pastors who come, and pastors who go, following the way that is made clear to them by your Holy Spirit, with our joyful blessings on their path.

For the beauty of the earth
For the wonder of each hour
For the joy of human love
For the church, and friends above…

Presbyterian Youth Council Accepting Applications Now

The Charleston Atlantic Presbytery Youth Council is a unique opportunity for high school youth to gain valuable leadership skills, learn more about the Presbyterian Church (USA), get to know other youth from around the presbytery, and serve the church in an important and challenging way!


Church leaders, please use the application link to nominate youth from your church.
