Thank you to all of the participants, leaders, and volunteers that made Saturday’s STEPS event a success. There were approximately 280 attendees from 34 churches in our presbytery. We even had several guests from other denominations and presbyteries. Three of our seminaries (Columbia, Union, and Johnson C. Smith) provided leaders (professors and presidents). Leaders from around the southeast and within our presbytery bounds shared their passions and gifts. From Louisville, we were blessed with the presence of our Stated Clerk, J. Herbert Nelson and Presbyterian Publishing Corporation provided our book store with a wonderful selection of books and curricula. Participants got to hear the stories of Montreat Conference Center, Thornwell, Hands of Christ, SC Inn at Montreat, Partners for Just Trade, and more as they visited displays. Leanne Van Dyk delivered a powerful and meaningful message in morning worship (you can view it HERE), and Cecelia Armstrong officiated our closing worship as we sang spirituals and celebrated the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. We are grateful to the Session and members of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church for hosting our event and the many volunteers that help make the day enjoyable. A special thanks to the hard working 2018 STEPS Planning Team: Marilyn Muckenfuss (co-chair), Sue Mathews (co-chair), Liv Cappelmann, Pat Jones, Laurey Murphy, James Rogers, Julia Royall, Kim Trimboli, and Martha Trussell.
