KEEP AWAKE!!!
The 16th annual STEPS (Studying, Teaching, Equipping, Praying, Serving) event was held Saturday, August 26 at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Over 140 people were in attendance from 28 churches in the presbytery. Representatives from Presbyterian Communities, Montreat, and Thornwell were present to share the stories of these important institutions. The Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett, president and executive director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the PC(USA) preached a powerful message from Matthew 25. The choir from St. James Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Minister Charles McDonald, also participated in the worship service. Despite the heat outside, this year’s STEPS provided refreshment of mind and spirit. A very special thanks to this year’s planning team: CeCe Armstrong (St James PC) (co-chair), Mary Quinney (Yeamans Park PC) (co-chair), Brandon Dodson (James Island), Jim Harvey (First PC Orangeburg), Bill Johnston (PC on Edisto Island), Patricia Jones (Hebron-Zion), Kay Keeler (Sea Island PC), Susan Moring (Mount Pleasant PC), Evelyn White (Zion-Olivet), and Pamela Spivey (Mount Pleasant PC) who served as the planning team liaison to the Mount Pleasant Church. If you want to be a part of the next event’s planning team (2024), contact Pie Mikell (pmikell@capresbytery.org). Most of the meetings are about an hour by zoom on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00pm.
